Eating healthy doesn’t mean you can’t get a treat. At the contrary, you can eat fresh fruits and it will boost your energy, give you plenty of vitamins and minerals and satisfy your sweet tooth.

Lemon Sorbet

For lemon sorbet, you will need one and a half cups of water and the same amount of sugar. Stir those two together and place it in the saucepan to the heat. Heat until it boils and the sugar melts completely. Then remove the saucepan from the heat, add one tablespoon of lemon zest, cover, and leave for 15 minutes. After that filter the mixture and trash the zest. Then, add one and a half of a cup of lemon juice and a just a little bit of salt. Let the mixture cool down, and keep in the freezer for at least 4 hours (but overnight will be the best). Tomorrow, pour the frozen mixture into an ice cream machine and make some ice cream.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have an ice cream machine. Pour the prepared mixture into the dish and freeze, just remember to stir with a fork several times before it gets completely frozen.

Sorbet should be broken into the big pieces and beat with the mixer until you have the desired texture.

Also, there is a variation of this recipe using lime juice and lime zest, instead of lemon.

Honeydew Sorbet

To make honeydew sorbet you should take a 1/4 of a cup of sugar, and pour it into a bowl. Add a tablespoon of freshly grated lime zest and press the zest to release the essential oils. Leave it for 10 minutes and then add half of a cup of lime juice. Filter the liquid and remove the zest. Blend in a food processor with the melon pieces (use 4 and a half of honeydew melon chunks). Cover the mixture, put into the freezer and freeze. You might make an ice cream out of this mixture or serve it as a sorbet.

You might want to try the variations of the recipe using different sweet melon. Make sure to adjust the amount of the sugar needed to make the sorbet.

Tropical Fruit Sorbet

Mix the lemon and orange juice (a cup of each), add pinch of salt and ¾ of a cup of sugar and stir until the sugar melts. Blend with 2 cups of mango, a cup of peach and a cup of papaya slices. You may add some dried coconut to the mixture, according to your taste. Freeze it over night or put in the ice cream machine and make some ice cream.

Raspberry and Chocolate-Chip Yogurt

Blend 3 cups of raspberries, 2 cups of plain yogurt, a 1/3 of a cup of sugar and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into an ice cream machine and prepare ice cream. In the last 5 minutes of freezing add half of a cup of chocolate chips.

This recipe also works well with strawberries or bananas, instead of raspberries.
