Holidays and Healthy Food

When a special event such as a holiday calls for, then the food which is the inevitable part of it has to meet the expectations as well. However, this does not mean that the table should be filled with those types of food that are, although tempting, also very high in calories and fat. Healthy food can be as tempting and savory as any of its, above mentioned, counterparts. One of the solutions is also organic food.

Foods to Be Cautious With

Such holiday delights as candy coated apples and alike are always extremely difficult to turn the blind eye to. Despite this, we should always keep in mind that these types of food are probably the ones that hide the most “artificial” secretes, i.e. abounds in artificial preservatives, flavors and colors, among which there can be found those that are proven to be a serious health hazard. What numerous researches and laboratory studies have confirmed, for example, is that the substance saccharin is the main culprit of cancer in laboratory animals. Makes one wonder, doesn’t it? One of the better solutions is to provide your kid with diet that is balanced in a proper way and give him/her candies in moderate quantities.

Holiday Decorations That Can Harm Your Health

Food is not the only thing that makes up a festivity such as holiday. People frequently add up to the holiday spirit by “enriching” the air with some fragrances or spices like sticks of cinnamon or cloves. This is what improves the holiday mood by all means. But such decorations as scented candles, air fresheners and similar products fragrant in nature are known to abound in numerous chemical substance mixtures, which only add up to the air pollution, especially indoor, and also add up to the persons’ fatigue in a negative manner, as well as being the main culprits for unpleasant headaches.

Spick and Span Your Home

Another very important thing to mind is the state of your home before inviting any guests over. Therefore the pre-holiday cleaning is, unfortunately, a must if you aim at making your guests feel as pleasant and cosy as possible, and glad they have chosen your home to enjoy the holiday in. In order not to numb their senses, especially the smell one, it is highly recommendable to employ those not so strong and above all, not toxic cleaning solutions such as, baking or washing soda and also vinegar.
