A closer look to this problem
As already well known, acne is rather annoying aesthetic problem, especially among the teenagers, since during the period of the adolescence, there is the increased secretion of the hormones present. Also, having in mind how unsightly and bothering these protuberant blemishes are, it can be concluded that a lot of people have a strong urge to squeeze them and to extract its contents.
However, popping the acne, by removing the pus from them, really do speed up the process of healing of it, but only when it is done the right way. Unfortunately, either, because of the unprofessionally done act of squeezing, or because of the unclean fingers and nails, this intervention, in the most of the cases, is not done properly.
So, having said that the act of squeezing is really harmful in the case of acne, especially of the most common permanent outcome of scarring, it is recommendable not to do that at all. But, we must be realistic considering how uncontrollable this urge may be, so it is very important at least to learn how to do the squeezing and extracting of the acne contents properly. Also, apart from making a permanent damage to the pore by making a pigmented or uneven scar, this act can cause the recurrence of the acne outbreak, that is, if all the contents isn’t extracted.
The right way to do it
The basic advice is to squeeze only the mature ones and to stay away by the all means from the cystic acne, and the others that are painful. After choosing the mature one, and commonly the blackheads and whiteheads are ready for the squeezing, it is essentially important to sterilize the area and, of course, the hands should be cleansed thoroughly (the best way to do that would be with the soap rich in the agents that kill bacteria). Of course, the extraction will not be done with the bare hands, but the points of the fingers should be wrapped into the sterile cloth.
In order to prevent the ugly scar from happening, the acne should be firstly softened with a sterile pad which is previously soaked into the warm water. Additionally, as far as the possible scarring is considered, the trick to avoid it is that the pimple should be squeezed from the root with the tips of the fingers and not with the nails, because, in that case, the skin around it will be injured. When squeezing, it should be done from all around it, so that no pus stays in the pore. The process should be stopped when the watery fluid or some blood shows up.
After the intervention is performed, the area should be cleaned once again, but with the antiseptic and humidifying agents. That way, the infectious process is prevented.
