Internal hemorrhoids are the most common version of this health problem. They are actually anal veins that become enlarged by the internal pressure in the abdomen and they are located in the back passage. Internal hemorrhoids always occur in the last two inches of the rectal area. Various conditions such as constipation and pregnancy may cause excessive abdominal pressure which leads to the development of internal hemorrhoids.

Other health problems that can also be the cause of internal hemorrhoids includes coughing, sneezing, a sedentary lifestyle, diarrhea, obesity, vomiting, liver cirrhosis, various types of rectal infections, Crohn’s disease and a low-fiber diet. The internal hemorrhoids get developed very easily because the tissue that lines the anal canal is very delicate and thin so the veins bulge out from it rather easily.

Internal hemorrhoids usually do not involve any symptoms. A person can only feel pressure or fullness in the anal and very rarely they can be slightly painful. A person can sometimes feel itching or mild swelling as well. Sometimes the hemorrhoids can get damaged and start bleeding and if the bleeding occurs it requires immediate medical attention.

There are a few home treatments for the bleeding internal hemorrhoids. Warm sitz baths can be of great help in relieving inflammatory conditions. A person should avoid sitting and straining for longer periods of time. Ice packs wrapped in a towel can also be very efficient in relieving the symptoms. Ibuprofen can be taken orally in order to reduce bleeding and inflammation. One should also include more fiber in the daily diet and avoid a sedentary lifestyle.

Fibers are very important in the treatment of internal hemorrhoids. They can be commonly found in vegetables, fresh fruits, beans and whole grains. All new types of food should be added in a gradual manner in order to avoid nausea, bloating and other gastrointestinal problems that may occur. One can also try and use one of many fiber supplements.

They come in a powder form and are made with powdered flax seeds or powdered psyllium. Drinking plenty of water is also very important in order to relieve constipation and certain other symptoms associated with internal hemorrhoids. One should also indulge in physical activities such as walking, or running.

Another good idea is to switch to loose, cotton made underwear during the treatment of internal hemorrhoids. Tight underwear might irritate the hemorrhoids so it should be avoided. Herbs with high content of bioflavonoids can also be of great help in the treatment.
