Party-Time Foods
When it comes to parties, there is not a single kid that will not be absolutely crazy about it, especially about the food being served. But, there is often the old healthy-party-food issue, because not many people do pay attention to that, and the majority of food varieties being served at a party just does not fall into the healthy category. On one hand, kids are absolutely mad about fast food such as pizzas or hot dogs, but on the other, there are also other varieties of food, such as the ones that will be mentioned a bit later on. The key ingredient to success is healthy mini portions.
Mini “Mouth Waterings”
Made-Over Pigs-In-A-Blanket – are a fairly common, and come to that, standard party snack, but the downside is the fact that this snack is not that health-friendly at all. However, this does not need to be the case, since after doing some additional make over, this snack can be made into one that has not lost its flavor but has gained on its healthiness. The healthy recipe goes as follows – hot dogs ought to be mini sized into 4 tiny parts and then wrapped into Cresent Rolls. After this, they are off to the oven for some baking. If you are not satisfied with the healthiness of these rolls, another even healthier solution is wrapping them up into the whole wheat bread sticks. Mini Bean Burritos – given the fact that beans abound in proteins, mini burritos stuffed with beans are an excellent party snack. The recipe for making them goes as follows – black beans, 2% Mexican blend cheese, tortillas (whole wheat), and four bell papers different in color. The first step is cooking the beans, which are afterwards to be drained and made into a puree. Next, tortillas are to be halved and inside you should put no more than 2 tbs of bean puree on one half. On top of it all, put the cheese and one slice of each bell pepper. Roll it up and serve. Pretzel Coated Chicken "Strips" – whereas the ordinary chicken "strips" way of preparation includes frying, because of which they abound in fats, the pretzel coated version is a much more healthier and still a party cracker. The recipe goes as follows – you need one piece of chicken breast, boneless and skinless, which is then to be cut into strips. Afterwards, you need to dip it in an egg white, which you have previously mixed with water. For coating, dip all that into pretzels. Once this done, put it all in an oven and bake for round 30 minutes, i.e. until cooked. As an add on, serve it together with a honey-mustard dip.
