The cause of itchy scalp

If you have a problem with itchy scalp, you don’t have to worry because it can be cured and soothed with home remedy. One can have regular hygiene, maintain his body and skin and yet have an itchy scalp. It is possible for an itchy scalp to appear without any reason, but nowadays, the most common reason for an itchy scalp lies in the chemicals found in the off-the-shelf shampoos and conditioners on the market. If it is not treated it can become even worse, creating a strong urge to itch your scalp. The compounds that are found in these chemicals dry out the skin removing natural oils that are necessary. If you come across Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLS) you should avoid it as it is one of the worst chemicals. Be careful because it is found in the 90 % of shampoos.

Other causes of itchy scalp are related to perm chemicals and hair dye allergies. Nobody knows if one has an allergy unless trying a hair dye. So if you plan to dye your hair, first do a patch test. Some other causes of an itchy scalp can be allergic reactions, stress that is caused due to exhaustion, and viral infections (Chickenpox, shingles) and skin condition. Ringworm can also be one of the possible causes of an itchy scalp. It is a fungus and the symptom of ringworm is a red patch or a bump. It is very discomforting and can cause a lot of itching. After some time it resembles to a ring or a series of rings. 

Home remedy for an itchy scalp

The best and fastest home remedy is made out of rosemary and chamomile. Here is receipt on how it is made. First you need to chop three springs of rosemary, add three tea bags of chamomile and wait till it boils. You should rinse hair with this, and you will see that it has a cooling and anti-inflammatory effect. If you have a problem with dandruff, fenugreek seeds will help you with that. You should put 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water and let it stay over night. The following morning, you should make a paste of the seeds that were in water and put them over the scalp. Leave it for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with soap nut solution. Some other suggestions may help as well. You should replace your shampoo with a Tea Tree Oil based shampoo and keep you hygiene regularly so that the dead cells don’t pile up.

Don’t be lazy when there is a problem with an itchy scalp. Brush your hair every day, so that a circulation is improved. The proper way to brush your hair is to bend your head and brush your hair from the roots to the ends. You can also massage your scalp in a proper manner. If you are under stress, you should try to reduce it and your whole body will be thankful.
