Oily skin is sometimes not easy to maintain but remember this kind of skin generally ages slowly.

It gets dull and greasy and pores are always clogged. Oily skin needs care, regular exfoliation, moisturizers and masks. Ayrveda and home remedies might help with the maintenance of the oily skin.

Rice powder and corn flour should be used to exfoliate (scrub). Mix 1 tablespoon of rice powder, 1 tablespoon of corn flour and a drop or two of lemon juice and add some water to make a paste. Apply onto wet skin and gently massage all over your face, avoiding the eye area. The paste should be used 3 to 4 times a week, and it will remove the dead skin cells, leaving your skin soft and cleaned.

Another scrub is made of 2 tablespoons of almond meal, 1 tablespoon of lemon rind and 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk. Apply it gently to your face and rinse with water.

Milk is an excellent cleanser for oily skin. Use milk at least three times a day, to clean the pores. Before bedtime, use 2 tablespoons of milk, combined with 2 drops of lavender. It will clean pores, dirt and makeup residues.

The best way to moisturize oily skin is to use honey. Just spread a thin layer to your face and wash away after 15 minutes.

Make a crab apple paste and apply to the face and then leave for 20 minutes. After that time wash away with some warm water. Crab apple contains alpha hydroxi acids (AHA), which helps to soften and moisturize oily skin.

Mix half a tablespoon of sand alwood powder with some water (just a couple of drops). Apply to the face, avoiding your eyes. After it dries rinse your face with water.

Mixture of lemon juice, flour and turmeric powder or yoghurt, flour and turmeric is said to brighten and refresh the oily skin.

Try to massage your face with wheat germ oil. Leave the oil on the skin for 1 hour and then wash away with water. Rich in vitamin E, germ oil will soften your skin. Mix of 2-3 drops of each, cedar wood and sand al wood oils could be a good choice, too.

In some Indian grocery stores you may find multani mitti (or fuller’s earth). The mask containing this substance, 3 tablespoons of water and a pinch of turmeric is considered to be anti aging preparation for the oilyskin.

They say that Cleopatra used clay masks to purify her skin. 2 tablespoons of green clay, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 2 drops of lemon juice and 2 drops of lavender oil with some water are mixed into a paste. Apply all over the face, avoiding the eyes, and when it dries wash away with water.

For the oily skin on your body you could try to bath with some rose petals, a drop of geranium oil and 3 to 4 drops of chamomile oil. Be careful not to add more essential oil then recommended because it may cause an allergic reaction.
