Cornmeal is flour obtained from ground dried American corn. It has a nice fine medium consistency and it is a staple food in many parts of the world. However, cornmeal has many other uses and benefits that stretch far beyond its nutritional value. Cornmeal is known as one of the best natural dermatological antifungal compounds but it is also excellent for the skin and has many beneficial properties for beauty. Cornmeal facial mask is a gentle exfoliant and nourishing treatment for skin. It can also be used as a fantastic deodorizer for hands or an excellent rub for feet. Here is a recipe for completely natural and inexpensive facial mask.

Cornmeal Facial Mask

To make this mask mix ¼ cup of cornmeal with ¼ cup of water. The mixture should get a nice paste consistency. This is a great exfoliator that has to be applied on already cleansed skin. It is recommended to avoid eye area, with the most sensitive skin. Scrub the mask gently using the circular movement and rinse it away with lukewarm water.

Orange Juice and Cornmeal Facial Mask

Another great facial mask can be made by combining a juice of one orange and 4 tablespoons of cornmeal. It is important to use a juice with pulp, in order to harvest all of the important nutrients and to get desired density. Both ingredients should be mixed into a thick paste and applied to clean face and neck area. Again, it is recommended to avoid eye area. The mask is gently massaged into the skin and then removed with lukewarm water, mineral water or milk.

Cornmeal and Honey Facial Masks

Another wonderful facial mask can be made by mixing together 1 tablespoon of cornmeal, the same quantity of honey and two tablespoons of heavy cream. A couple of drops of lemon juice should also be added to the composition. Apply on clean face, gently scrub and rinse away.

Similar facial mask is made with 1/4 cup of cornmeal add 1/2 cup of honey and plain yogurt blend. Again, it is important to make smooth and thick paste and apply it on the previously cleaned skin. This mask should be put on for a couple of minutes and then removed.

Cornmeal and Chamomile Tea Facial Mask

For sensitive skin, ¼ cup of cornmeal is mixed with a cup of chamomile tea and 1 tablespoon of powdered milk. This mask is used as an exfoliator and comforting treatment. It is rubbed into skin and let dry for a couple of minutes. As usual, the mask is removed with lukewarm water.
