Oily skin is the type of the skin which is thick, dull coloured, and it has a greasy shine. If you have this type of skin for longer you can get pimples, blackheads and pores are enlarged. Sebaceous glands make too much oil what gives shiny greasy look to the skin. Skin looks coarse.
Oily type of the skin can be caused by hormone levels, pregnancy, hot water and humidity, diet, heredity, cosmetics and birth control pills. Teenagers commonly have oily skin because of their hormone changes. But, persons of all ages can have oily skin. Pregnant woman has hormone imbalance what increases function of sebaceous glands. There is also combination skin when person has oily skin in certain regions and in other regions is dry or normal.
Positive side of oily skin is that it ages slower than other types of skin. If you have oily skin type you need to wash it with hot water and soap. This is necessary for preventing blocking of your pores. But, you must not use harsh products for your skin because these products can make your glands to be overactive. This is called reactive seborrhoea. Harsh products remove oil of skin and then glands producing more oil to restore it. Also, you must not use products which dehydrate your skin. They can stop oil flow through the pores and then pores will be blocked.
For oily skin cleanse take products based on oil or oil-free moisturizers. Oil-free moisturizers will help you to get rid of shiny, greasy skin look. Wash your skin 2 or 3 times a day. Do not wash more than 2 or 3 times because glands will increase oil producing.
Choose lightly medicated soap without artificial additives and antibacterial lotion for cleansing. When you wash your face use water with minerals and it is better to be hot. Do not use alcohol containing lotions. After you cleanse your face then use oil-free skin moisturizer.
If your skin is too oily then cleanse it 3 or 4 times a day and moisturizers will not be need or very little until your age of 30.
Before you put makeup on your face use antiseptic day cream which contains benzyl peroxide. You can apply clarifying musk one or two times weekly.
For oily skin are good mixed together juices of cucumber and lime. If skin is too oily then add in it few drops of cologne water. This is good for preventing acne. Also, good for oily skin is cucumber juice if patches occur on your face after makeup. If patches occur on whole your face the put mixed witch-hazel juice and lime juice on your face. Clay or mud musk is very good for clearing too much oil of your skin.
If you have oily skin, eat more salt or food rich in proteins and drink more fluids. Do not eat too much of sugar. Eat fruits and green leafy vegetables. Also, you should eat whole grain foods, wheat germ, nuts, royal jelly, buckwheat, whole rice, beans, black beans and organ meats.
For oily skin are good essential oils such as cypress, juniper, bergamot, sage, lavender, cedar wood, lemon, geranium and frankincense.
Herbs helpful for oily skin are oat straw, thyme, chamomile, horsetail and burdock root and Aloe Vera which has healing properties.
