We Have Two Minds
Our personality, our experiences and our own interpretation of the world around us is based upon the fact that we have two different kinds of mind. The first one is the conscious mind, which is in charge of all the daily processes and thoughts we are aware of and capable of controlling. However, this part of our mind is just the tip of the iceberg. About 90% of what we consider our mind is our subconscious mind. This part acts on its own, creating decisions which impact us even though we are not aware of it, nor capable of comprehending it.
Our subconscious mind is a great and unimaginable thing. It listens to our conscious mind and takes orders, being capable only of accepting them and putting them to use. Also, upon imagining things with our conscious mind, our subconscious mind grants us visualization. This way, when you imagine the sour taste of a bright yellow lemon affecting the tip of your senses, you can feel this taste even though there is no lemon present in your mouth. The subconscious mind accepts everything as real. So, if we program it to be more relaxed and control our feelings, making them more positive, we are bound to become a more positive person.
