Almost all people who participate regularly in some sort of a physical activity that involves running experience at least once in their life the annoying side foot pain. Causes of side foot pain

A person can suffer from side foot pain because of many causes. However, a majority of people agree that wearing the wrong kind of shoes or snickers is the cause that occurs in most cases. If a person prefers wearing such footwear that is quite tight around the foot, he or she is bound to suffer from foot pain eventually. This happens especially if the person continues to wear the tight footwear for a long period of time. People who suffer from such diseases like diabetes and arthritis are more prone to side foot pain than other people. Apart from the wrong footwear, another cause that occurs in a lot of cases are blisters. Blisters are connected with the irritation of the skin of the feet.

Infections and injuries

In some cases, certain infection have caused side foot pain. Some of the infections that are usually the cause of the pain are cellulitis, septic arthritis and osteomyelitis. Certain injuries to the foot or leg are bound to cause pain, especially if the nerves were severely compressed. People who are involved in sports where there is a lot of running like athletics and gymnastics suffer from various types of fractures and these fractures cause quite a lot of side foot pain. Stress fractures and march fractures can happen to people of all ages and cause severe side foot pain. Tendinitis

Tendinitis is another cause of side foot pain. The interesting thing is that tendinitis also occurs because of the improper foot wear. Wearing high heels causes tendinitis as well.

Apart from these, there are some other causes of side foot pain like neuroma, ganglions, bunions and fissures.
