Pregnancy and Stomach Pains
Many pregnant women experience the pain in the stomach. In some cases it might be the sign of constipation, but it can also indicate ectopic pregnancy, if this pain occurs in very early pregnancy. Early days of pregnancy should be painless, so visit your doctor and make sure to check the causes of your abdominal pains. Ectopic pregnancy must be treated or it could end up fatally.
Urinary infections may also lead to stomach pains in pregnant women, as well as placental abruption. Pregnant women may also experience stomach pains due to the preeclampsia. This disorder provokes changes in the blood vessels and cause spasms and if you happen to experience sharp pain in pregnancy it can be related to this condition.
Miscarriage and preterm childbirth can also cause your stomach pains. Therefore, if you are having contractions before the 37th week of pregnancy you might be in labor.
Stomach Pain after Eating
Indigestion has been commonly associated with stomach pain and if you are having this problem plan your meal and follow proper diet to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Stomach and gastric ulcers may also be responsible for sharp stomach pain after eating. Quit smoking, avoid alcoholic drinks and lead a healthy lifestyle to prevent ulcers.
Constipation may also cause some bloating and abdominal pain, as well as food poisoning. Many times, people who ate something bad feel nauseous, vomit and experience dehydration.
Left and Right Side Stomach Pains
Left or right side stomach pains can be caused by the malfunction of the digestive system, large intestine, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, pelvic inflammatory disease, kidney stones, ectopic pregnancy or ovarian cysts (in women) or spermatic cord or testes disorder (in men).
Stomach pain on the right side can also indicate inflammation of the appendix (which is commonly known as appendicitis). In most cases, the pain starts in the upper part of the stomach and radiates to the sides and the back. Pancreatitis, gallbladder disease or gallstones are also known to cause right side stomach pain, especially in the upper right side of the abdomen. This pain may be very sharp and intense and it requires urgent medical assistance.
