A Thing or Two about Marijuana
As many of us know, marijuana, or cannabis, is a plant which is used for creating drugs which are usually taken through inhaling the smoke of certain parts of the plant. Therefore, flowers, leaves and resinous parts are all used for creating different kinds of drugs, including the common marijuana and hashish. Upon smoking or eating this plant, people get under the psychological influence of it, being intoxicated by a chemical compound called THC.
There are numerous facts about this plant and its effect on human beings. However, also, there are some myths about it which may not necessarily be true.
Myths and Facts about Marijuana
First and foremost, many people believe that marijuana consumption causes permanent brain damage to the abusers, especially if they are children. Yet, this is not true. Marijuana consumption causes you to feel anxious, paranoid and over-stimulated. However, this is all temporary, making this myth false in nature.
Secondly, there is a common belief that marijuana, as every other drug is highly addictive and, once one becomes hooked on it, he/she cannot possibly stop, due to countless different marijuana withdrawal symptoms. Strangely enough, this too is a false belief. Marijuana is not addictive and those who smoke it excessively do not experience withdrawal symptoms once they stop.
Another false fact about this plant is that it became more dangerous today than it was years before. Rather, it is absolutely the same, as well as its effect.
However, all the things mentioned above should not encourage you to use this drug. In fact, its possession and usage are punishable by law. Therefore, upon being caught with marijuana, you are to be arrested and sentenced to either paying a fine or going to jail.
Luckily, smoking pot will not cause you lung cancer or similar problems. It may also be used for treating nausea caused by chemotherapy, as well as the pain while suffering from glaucoma or any muscular and nervous disorders.
Another claim about marijuana is that it is a gateway drug, meaning that it leads you into the world of other, heavier drugs, such as heroin and LSD. Even though this may be the case, it is not influenced by this drug but more by the character of the person using it.
Finally, again contrary to many beliefs, marijuana consumption does not cause apathy in the consumer. Therefore, it does not affect his/ her productivity or concentration in any negative way. Still, there are many side-effects of marijuana to be aware of, making this drug bad for you nevertheless.
