The Indian word for cumin seeds is jeera.
Jeera is an annual plant that can grow between 35 and 45 cm. It is long with white or rose flowers. Its fruit resembles seeds. These seeds are extremely healthy for us.
Cumin has strong distinctive taste. Its powder is a part of curry spice.
Jeera plant is grown in many places such as Egypt, India, Mediterranean area etc. It was used since Middle Ages as spice and remedy.

Cumin or jeera can be used in medicine to relieve gastrointestinal problems such as gases or colic. It is also showed stimulant and anti-spasmodic properties.

Jeera is excellent way to ease good night sleep. If you suffer from insomnia grind cumin seeds, add a pulp of a banana and consume before you go to bed.
Another great remedy that can cure renal colic is made from jeera and caraway seeds and black salt. You need 20 grams of jeera, 12 grams of caraway and 6 grams of black salt. When you mix them and powder them add vinegar (apple cider vinegar made from organic apples is the best choice). Your dose is 3 grams and it can be taken several times until your symptoms disappear.
