Bruising is a normal, routine experience in our lives. Most of the time, we don’t think much of a bruise or pay it much attention as our body normally repairs it for us. Most minor bruises don’t require any action, but it certainly won’t do any harm to take care of a bruise, especially a larger one.Causes

The impact of a blunt force connecting with the body may create a bruise. A bruise is an internal, below the skin bleeding and is normally caused by a blow to a particular part of the body. However, certain other medical conditions can create a bruise out of apparently nothing. Some medications can also lead to bruising, such as anti-inflammatory medications, blood thinners and even Aspirin. If you are planning to undergo surgery, it might be advisable to forego usage of these drugs as it may cause bruising.

Healing

Try to apply ice to the affected area as soon as possible. This will help reduce pain and swelling. Keep the ice applied for about 30 minutes and repeat this at regular intervals for at least a day after the bruise emerges. One can also apply a calendula cream or tincture to the bruise in order to assist healing.

Some herbs can help to heal bruises. Aloe vera and thyme can have significant benefits when it comes to getting rid of a bruise. With aloe vera, simply place some aloe vera gel on the affected area and wait for the solution to take effect. When using thyme, first of all boil some of the herb in a pot for about ten minutes. After it cools down, strain the water into another pot and take a bath. Simply add the thyme water to the bath.

Vinegar can also be used. Dab some cider vinegar all over a washcloth, making sure to saturate it well. Then, press the resulting compress against the bruised area for at least ten minutes. Another possible solution you may be able to find in your kitchen involves using cabbage. Soak some cabbage leaves in warm water before applying it to the affected part of the body. This excellent natural remedy should be applied for at least fifteen minutes. Warning - make sure the leaves have cooled down before you apply them to the skin.

Arnica is an excellent homeopathic medicine when it comes to healing bruises. Arnica gel can help with dark, swollen bruises and will provide good relief from stiffness, as well as assisting in the fight against discoloration. Reapply the gel or cream every three hours.
