Water

The human body is made up of 70% of water. This fact tells you how important water is for our good health. Oxygen and water are crucial elements for keeping you alive. Drinking water has a lot of health benefits and you must not deprive your body of water. Your body eliminates water by urination, bowel movements, sweating, and breathing, so you must make up for the loss of water. It is recommended to drink about eight glasses of water every day. Water is very important for proper metabolism. Without water your body will not be able to digest food and absorb vitamins and minerals from it. Dehydration is a condition when your body does not have enough water to function properly. It can be especially harmful to babies and elderly people. Lack of water in your body can impair your ability to perform everyday activities because you will feel tired and your energy level will be lower than usual. People who exercise a lot or spend plenty of time sunbathing are at grater risk of dehydration. The most obvious symptoms of dehydration are excessive thirst and dry mouth. If you do not supply your body with water as soon as possible, you may also feel dizzy and lightheaded, you may have headache, your muscles will be weakened and you will have problems with urination.

Beverages and food contain water, and only 20% of recommended water intake should be taken from such sources. You should remember that nothing can replace drinking tap or bottled water.
