Water is life, especially when it comes to human health. We need to drink at least 8 glasses of water during every day of our life. However, not many people have this healthy practice. Thus, we can freely conclude that most of the world is suffering from chronic dehydration. Surely, we might think that coffee, tea, juices or sodas will compensate for our loss of fluids. Yet, this is not quite true, since most of these beverages are diuretics, making our body use up even more of its liquid resources. All in all, just as plants need water in order to flourish and have juicy, healthy fruits, we need to drink plenty of water in order for our organism to be in top shape. If we fail to hydrate our body properly, we face countless ailments, some more serious than others.
We are Water
Amazingly, 75% of the entire human body is made of water. So, numerous processes in our organism are carried out by water. It transports the nutrients we consume, hormones and various other elements throughout our system. Also, water produces hydroelectric energy which is crucial for the proper functioning of our brain. When we lack water, our cells, enzymes and proteins are not functioning well. Basically, we cannot live without water, since it circulates from our brain, through our glands, lungs, liver, kidneys, muscles, bones and skin. Histamine ensures that this circulation takes place, even when our organism lacks water. During dehydration, histamine needs to become excessively active, leading to allergies, asthma, dyspepsia, constipation, arthritis, aches and headaches.
When Dehydration Strikes
Usually, once we realize that our mouth are dry and that we are thirsty, we are already suffering from dehydration. Heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disorder may present next signs of this condition. During digestion, our pancreas needs to produce enough bicarbonates, neutralizing the acids in the stomach. However, this process requires large amounts of water. If our body lacks this water, the process of digestion will be delayed, the acid levels may rise and enter the esophagus, leading to heartburn. Thus, always drink plenty of water at least 30 minutes before consuming food. Also, provide your body with water for two hours after eating, drinking water during the meals as well.
Joint pain may strike due to dehydration too. Constipation and depression are possible scenarios once your body lacks water. Also, our body needs to get rid of toxins. This is possible only when enough water is circulating through our organism. Thus, when we are suffering from chronic dehydration, we cannot expel harmful substances. Rather, these dwell in our body, making us more susceptible to ailments.
After all these words, take water seriously and drink the necessary 8 glasses a day. We are made of water and need to replenish our supplies of it, allowing our body to function without problems.
