Selenium is important mineral because it protects you from cancers and also skin cancer caused by sun exposure. Selenium keeps your tissues flexible. Selenium prevents hardening and aging of tissues. Selenium is found in garlic, whole grain cereals seafood and eggs. Recommended daily dose of selenium is 50 to 200 micrograms. These doses of selenium protect you from sun rays which damage skin and cause skin cancer.
