Our heart is a muscle and like any other muscle in the body it needs to be exercised. If it is not, it will atrophy and weaken. The difference of the heart and other muscles in the body is that, when the heart has weakened, it needs to work hard to get the work of pumping the blood through the body done. It is essential to keep your heart healthy and effective more then any other muscle in the body.
Regular exercise helps the heart and the whole body. Any exercise is good for the heart in some way. For the heart the best exercise is aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise like jogging, hiking, bicycle riding or just plain walking for 30 minutes a day keeps the heart in good condition. It forces the heart to start working above its average rate. This kind of exercise strengthens the heart via increasing it endurance. It also detoxifies the body. Strength exercises are not so effective on the heart. Of course, they strengthen the heart making it by causing it to work harder, but they are less effective then aerobic exercises. You can also combine strength training and aerobic training in one workout session. This conditions and strengthens your heart.
Regular exercise, especially aerobic exercises, helps in preventing heart diseases, it can lower blood pressure, it raises good cholesterol and lowers the bad one, the circulation of blood gets better, it is good for weight reduction etc. Regular exercise has also beneficial effects on the whole of the body not just on the heart. By exercising regularly, one improves a variety of mental conditions, like concentration and mental clarity. Exercise helps in excretion of serotonin which is included in mood regulation, sleep and some cognitive functions.It strengthens the muscles of the whole body and is helping in decreasing of the pain.
Exercise is not the only thing one should consider. Healthy diet is also very important. One should try and avoid eating food high on fat, processed flour and sugar and avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. A person should include whole grains, more raw vegetables (like salads), fruits, nuts and berries into the diet. In that way, a person is detoxifying through exercises and eliminating the supply of toxins through the diet.
When starting the exercise program, remember to ease yourself in. One has to be careful not to over do it. Slow and steady wins the race. Exercise regularly and in time intensity of the exercises should increase.
