Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness and discomfort in the stomach that can be very unpleasant. Nausea can be a symptom of various medical conditions but it can be also caused by food poisoning, emotional stress and other reasons. There are different natural nausea remedies you can use to relieve the symptoms of it.

Ginger

Ginger root is well known herbal remedy for nausea. It can be used either fresh or dried. There are two active compounds in ginger that alleviate nausea and they are shogoals and gingerols. However, it has been proven that ginger doesn’t work effectively for every person. What is more, it may even worsen nausea in some cases and cause heartburn. Ginger can be taken in a form of tea or capsules but there are also ginger biscuits recommended for pregnant women. One should be aware that ginger is anti-coagulant thus it shouldn’t be combined with blood-thinning medications.

PeppermintPeppermint is another herb that effectively relieves nausea. Nausea related to pregnancy can be treated with peppermint tea, sweets or chewing gum. Peppermint essential oil is not recommended to be used in pregnancy.

Other herbal remedies for nausea include: lemon balm, chamomile, lemon juice and yogurt. Therapies that can help in treating nausea include: acupressure, hypnosis, homeopathy and reflexology.
