Mycophenolate Mofetil

Mycophenolate Mofetil is a medication which is given to a patient who has had organ transplantation. Mycophenolate Mofetil weakens the immune system, so the body does not reject the new organ as a foreign body. If you had a heart, kidney or liver transplanted, the optional treatment will be a combination of medications with Mycophenolate Mofetil. Side Effects

Mycophenolate Mofetil has a number of side effects but only some of the patients will experience them. If you notice anything unusual regarding your health condition, contact your doctor as soon as possible. The most common side effects of Mycophenolate Mofetil may include pain in the back, pain in the stomach, sickness, vomiting, weakness, fatigue, appetite loss, headache, coughing, constipation, diarrhea, tremors, faintness and sleeping disorders. The side effects which are considered to be serious include blood in urine and stool, pain in the chest, irregular pulse, pain in the stomach, vomiting, vomiting blood, tingling sensation or numbness in the legs and arms, swelling of the glands, problems with urination, flu symptoms, impaired vision, faintness, impaired vision, fatigue, mood changes, excessive perspiration during the night, severe headache, pain in the back, bleeding, bruising, unexplained loss of weight, paleness of the skin, blisters on the skin, white sores in the mouth and jaundice.

Allergic Reaction

Some patients who receive Mycophenolate Mofetil may develop a severe allergic reaction. The symptoms of allergic reactions to Mycophenolate Mofetil include breathing difficulties, tension in the chest, skin rash, itchiness, irritation and swollen mouth, lips, tongue or face.

Precautions

Mycophenolate Mofetil can be very damaging to the unborn child, so if you are planning to get pregnant or if you are pregnant inform your doctor about it. Even if you are breastfeeding, the baby can be affected through the mother’s milk. Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking any other medications, food supplements, vitamins or any herbal products because Mycophenolate Mofetil does not interact well with certain substances.
