Myfortic is a medication which is given to a patient who has had a kidney transplant. It has an effect to the immune system so your body would not reject the new organ. Since Myfortic is an immunosuppressant, which means that it lowers your immune system, you may be at risk of getting sick during the therapy. Pregnant women should consider taking this medication because it can cause damage to the baby.
Every medication has side effects and so does Myfortic. Some of the side effects includes constipation, diarrhea, stomach disorders, sickness, vomiting, headache, fatigue, sleeping disorders, anxiety, faintness, pain in the back and has cough. In some cases these side effects are mild and do not require medical attention. However if you experience really severe side effects, visit your doctor as soon as possible.
There are other side effects of Myfortic which may be threat to your health. These side effects include allergic reactions which can manifest as skin disorders such as rash, itching and irritation or as respiratory disorders such as tension in the chest, chest pain, breathing difficulties and swellings of the tongue, lips or face. Myfortic can also cause blood in the urine and stool. Other side effects include mood changes, mental disorders, severe headaches, tremor, faintness, impaired vision, excessive vomiting, sharp abdominal pain and numbness or swelling of the legs, arms and glands. Some side effects are similar to those of an infection which include fever, chills and sore throat. Myfortic may affect the urinary tract and cause problems with urination. Some of the severe side effects include unusual bleedings, lumps on the skin, fatigue, sudden loss or weight, skin paleness, blood in the vomit, yellow skin or eyes and discoloration of the throat and mouth.
