Baking soda is a good way to take care of the teeth. For a small price, the teeth can be whiter without even having to leave home.
Good oral hygiene is of obvious importance. Discolored, stained teeth are not just ugly, they are proof that a person does not take care of them and probably of himself or herself in general. If the teeth have already been neglected, the least one can do in that situation is make sure to salvage what he/she can. One of the things to do is to whiten teeth and one of the most practical ways to do that is with baking soda.
This task is a very easy one. Before brushing the teeth in the morning, one should dip a wet toothbrush in baking soda and apply it subtly. Rinse afterward. If there happens to be a tingling sensation, it is no cause for concern. What's important is to use this method sparingly, once every two weeks. Overusing it could result in damage to the sensitive teeth coating, called enamel.
There are ways to supplement the baking soda method. One of those is through use of hydrogen peroxide. One can simply buy a three percent hydrogen peroxide solution and use it along with baking soda instead of spending a fortune on various products which would essentially do the same. This newly acquired method goes as follows: take two teaspoons of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide each and create a more or less homogeneous mixture, with the help of water. After brushing the teeth with this new paste, one should rinse thoroughly and then apply the regular paste too. This method should not be used more than twice a month.
Another way to use baking soda is combining it with lemon juice. After creating a mixture of these two ingredients, one should apply it and wait two to three minutes before rinsing.
Baking soda could also be used along with salt or even strawberries. Mixing the soda with crushed ripe strawberries creates an interesting looking paste. It is then applied and left for no more than 5 minutes before rinsing. A regular paste is then used to brush the teeth once more and finish the process.
These few tricks should help a person improve his/her appearance and, with it, raise self-confidence. Still, the best way to have perfectly white teeth is to actually take care of them by brushing, visiting one's dentist regularly and listening to his or her advice.
