Hypnotherapy and NLP review

Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming are two very useful tools that can help you take more advantage from your martial arts training. Considering that martial arts are more than just a physical training, it is understandable that training one’s mind is enhancing one's physical performance.

What is Hypnosis?

It is interesting that Hypnosis is considered as a natural state that occurs to people several times during the day. This state can occur while listening to familiar music or driving a familiar route. The hypnotherapist uses procedures to lead you into that normal state in which your level of consciousness is altered. We then fall into the state of narrower attention focus that can allow us to focus easily on the changes we desire. Although many people feel that they cannot be hypnotized, that is not true. Actually, everyone can be hypnotized if they chose to be. There are sufficient numbers of techniques that can be used in this purpose. It is interesting to mention that during the hypnosis guided by hypnotherapist, one will stay aware and remember everything that had happened to him while in the altered state of consciousness. It is actually a very comfortable and relaxing state that can also be used in reliving tension and stress.
Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy done in hypnotic trance. It uses a state when your critical conscious mind is less active to induce responds to positive suggestions given. Still, in hypnotic trance, people only respond to suggestions that are acceptable to them. If the will power has not resulted in making the changes you want, hypnotherapy can be very useful by using your unconscious mind to alter your perception of reality.

What is NLP?

Neuro Linguistic Programming is also a set of tools, used to help people understand how the human mind works and facilitate useful changes. It is often used in combination with hypnotherapy. NLP is developed from behavioral modeling techniques, as a model interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behavior and the underlying subjective experiences underlying. The NLP coach will start by getting very clear on exactly what it is that you want to achieve (for example, be a better fighter), and then they focus on practical ways of achieving that. The changes may also involve learning a new skill, or refining an existing one; it may be used for modifying your thinking or beliefs about yourself and your capabilities. For example, if you think that you are not capable of mastering some technique, your body will make that belief a reality.
