So many people today live an unhealthy life, filled with fast food and little or no physical activity. Common result of such an unhealthy lifestyle is accumulation of fat all over the body. One of the first places where the excess fat accumulates is the belly. Belly fat can be the cause of numerous health problems and diseases, such as elevated level of cholesterol, diabetes, or some form of heart disease. It is also less than attractive to lag around a huge, fat-filled belly. Logical and highly preferable course of action would be to reduce amount of fat in the belly. Here are some ideas that might help you if you decide to get rid of it.

Diet for belly fat

Unfortunately, days of unchecked, voracious eating are over. You must be careful as what to eat and how much to eat. The good news is that there is no need for starvation diet, and, quite frankly, such diets do more harm than good, as your body switches to "starvation mode" and basically transforms all that you eat into fat, because it believes there is a food shortage and more reserves are needed, just in case. A gradual decrease in amount of consumed food, along with omission of some undesired foods should do the trick.

First thing you should do is to eat more meals than before, but total amount of food that you consume should be less than before. Basically, if you had three large meals every day, go for six small meals. This will prevent the feeling of a 'hole' in the stomach that needs to be filled, and will boost your metabolism, so you will be burning your fat supply faster. Also, it is better to eat a large meal early in the day and have just a bite or two for supper. It takes a few days to get used to such regime, but it is no problem after that.

It is also important to watch what you eat. Say goodbye to sweets, cakes, candies, all such things that are loaded with sugar and carbohydrates. Also, avoid food that is full of saturated fats, such as fried or pre-processed food, and fast food. Best drink for diet is water, or unsweetened tea, as these have no calories. Drink lots of eater, as this will improve removal of toxins and metabolic waste from your organism. Avoid alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, and if you like dairy products, go for low fat or fat free variants.

Exercises for belly fat

There are no exercises that can do away with belly fat alone, or any other area of choice. Fat reserves are burnt gradually from all over the organism. To speed this up, try cardio exercises like cycling, swimming or running while weightlifting can improve tone of your muscles and increase your stamina and durability.
