Introduction to Herbal Highs to Quit Smoking
In this day and age, everybody’s trying to “kick the bad habit” of smoking. Still, although today we know the harm that smoking can produce, there are still far more smokers than ever before. Smoking is one of the most common forms of recreational drug use. Tobacco smoking is regularly practiced by over 6 per cent of people worldwide. That means that more than a billion people are smokers. Not to mention that there are people that, although they do not smoke themselves, become passive smokers. And, it has been proven that smoke causes far more damage to the passive smoker than to the person that is actually smoking!
Harmful Effects of Smoking
The first and major way that cigarettes influence one’s body is nicotine dependence. It is an addiction to tobacco products caused by the drug nicotine that is in cigarettes, along with many other chemicals. Nicotine dependence actually means that a person cannot stop using the substance, even though it's causing them harm. Nicotine produces physical and mood-altering effects in one’s brain that are momentarily pleasing. These effects stimulate one’s sustained use of tobacco and further lead to dependence. At the same time, quitting tobacco smoking causes withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine dependence may bring various health problems. While it's the nicotine in tobacco that keeps one hooked, the toxic effects come mainly from other substances that are located in the tobacco. It has been scientifically proven that smokers have considerably higher rates of heart disease, stroke and cancer. Furthermore, smoking may cause lung diseases, heart problems, mouth, larynx and throat cancer, premature aging of the skin, impotence, infertility, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.
How to Stop Smoking with Herbal Highs
Some people believe that smokers need to simply decide to stop. However, this is not as easy as one might think. As we have established, it causes both physical and mental addiction.
One of the best ways of stopping with this habit is herbal highs. But, not many people know what this actually means. Well, they are actually made of herbal plants and used as cigarette substitute without causing any harm to the smoker. Also, being as they have no nicotine, herbal highs can’t harm a person’s health. They are highly effective, because they block the tendency of the smoker to use cigarettes, therefore gradually stopping the addiction. Some elements that are in herbal highs, such as mint and lemon balm, substitute nicotine in the body. Furthermore, the smoker will have no withdrawal symptoms.
However, it must be noted that, although they are a good way of quitting smoking, they are still a type of cigarettes, so they may, in some way, affect the lungs. But, when compared to normal cigarettes, they are far less harmful. The body can easily cleanse the effects of herbal highs.
