Rye bread is a kind of bread baked with different percentages of flour from rye grain. The rye bread can be light or dark in color, depending on the kind of flour one uses and possible presence of coloring agents. This bread is typically denser than bread made from wheat flour, due to the high content of moisture. Rye bread also has more fiber than other usually consumed types of bread. This healthy feature also adds to its darker color and strong taste.Rye bread and weight loss

Rye bread has some significant health advantages as compared to commonly used wheat bread. If used for breakfast, rye bread may help in weight control, and it is especially efficient in diet plans. Dieters who use rye bread for breakfast will normally experience less hunger during the day, because of the higher fiber count of this bread. Fibers in rye bread have high water binding capacity, which causes the expansion of fibers in the intestines, and promote the feeling of fullness. This acts as a mighty appetite suppressant and may prevent food cravings during the day.

Health benefits of rye bread

Rye bread may decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and boost the function of beta cells, inducing a better insulin response. Rye also contains high levels of important phytoestrogens called lignans that may prevent breast cancer and colon cancer. Phytoestrogens act like natural estrogens and they may prevent and reduce unpleasant symptoms of menopause. It has high levels of soluble fiber that is associated with lower cholesterol levels, and it contains magnesium necessary for optimal blood pressure levels and cardiovascular health.

Substituting wheat bread for rye alternative may be the easiest possible way to care about one’s health and obtain sufficient levels of important nutrients.
