Different things may cause back pain, especially physical exertion, various accidents, injuries and arthritis. However, most people don’t know that pregnancy, depression, kidney stones, prostate problems and tumors may also present itself with some back pain.
Back Pain in Pregnancy
Pregnant women may experience back pain because of the extra weight their body has at this moment of their life and also because hormones which should ease the birth. Since women tend to get 10 or more kilograms for 40 weeks of pregnancy, many of them suffer from added strain on their vertebrae and muscles, which can result in back pain. Close to the birth, woman’s body produces hormone to relax the bones and prepare the body for delivery. These movements and adjustments of the body may also be the cause of back pain.
Pregnant women should not use medications or any remedies in their condition if possible. However, if the pain is strong, you may consult your doctor about raspberry leaf tea, but only in the third trimester.
Back Pain and Depression
According to some research depression and back pain are connected. Sometimes, depressed people simply don’t notice little bit of discomfort and back pain and soon after that, the same pain may aggravate their depression further. Some patients may find that herbal remedies like St. John’s Wort, willow bark or gotu kola help them immensely. Always consult your doctor before any treatment for depression. Be careful with herbal remedies and don’t use willow bark if you are allergic to Aspirin.
Kidney Stones Back Pain
Kidney stones are known to cause significant amounts of pain, especially in the back and some even claim the pain is similar to childbirth sensations. Situations may even pose a life threat if the stone block the urethra. Visit and consult your doctor about kidney stones and the best possible treatment, to avoid any complications. Herbalists usually advise using corn silk for any kidney problem you might have, or using oath to relieve the pain.
Prostate Problems
Benign prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer are very common problems with prostate. Both of these conditions include back pain as one of the symptoms. Other signs may include: urinating problems and frequent and urgent need to urinate. Saw palmetto is claimed to prevent or ease these problems.
Tumor Back Pain
Benign and cancerous tumors can also be the cause of back pain in some patients. Tests can discover these tumors, but only biopsy may determine the type of the tumor.
