Apart from these, a person should eat more of the dark green leafy vegetables like spinach and romaine lettuce. The reason for that is because these vegetables contain lutein, carotenoids and fiber which all have certain substances that fight off cancer. Foods that are packed with vitamins A, E and C should be also consumed a lot because these are antioxidants and they fight the free radicals in the body.

Tomatoes have all these three vitamins and that is why they are very popular. Experts advise that tomatoes should be eaten cooked or as a sauce. This does not mean that they are not good when eaten fresh and raw.

During the summer months a person should eat watermelon as often as possible. Lots of people are not aware that watermelon has lots of vitamin C.

Cabbage is thought to lessen the chance of getting rectal and colon cancer. It is believed that helps the eyesight as well.
