Burning calories without working out or exercising may sound too good to be true, but the fact is there are certain activities that involve significant amount of calories burned. these activities are perfect for those who are too lazy to go to the gym or who dislike gyms for various reasons, and still want to lose weight.

Indoor activities

Breathing certainly does not sound like a calorie-burning activity, but certain techniques, like Pranayama, have found to be not only beneficial for the wellness of the body and mind, but also to promote calorie burning. These deep breathing techniques can be done anywhere, anytime. The best way to do it is to slowly breath in to the count of 6 or 8, to hold the breath for a second or two, and then breathe out slowly. Breathing rapidly after this, like after jogging, additionally increases the effect.

Fidgeting and gesturing can burn a lot of calories too. This means taping the fingers on the table, tapping the foot while sitting, moving the arms and the hands around.

Walking the dog, riding the bicycle in the park, ice skating, roller skating, waiting in line at the bank, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, going for a swim at the pool or at the beach, playing a game of shooting hoops, bowling - these are all great and fun alternatives to more conventional forms of exercise. Everyone can find an activity that is both fun and enjoyable and calorie burning.
