Physical exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. People of all ages are advised to engage in a regular physical activity, and starting to form this habit from the childhood may be one of the best things parents can do for their child. General health guidelines recommend at least an hour of physical activity for children. Children under five who can walk should be physically active every day for at least three hours while older kids require at least an hour of aerobic exercise on the daily level. This may sound like too much time, but most of the children are physically active without any effort, as they are engaged in various energetic age-appropriate activities. Parents whose children spend too much time in front of the television, or playing computer games, should make some special effort to motivate their kids to make positive changes in their daily habits.

Benefits of physical activity for children

Physical exercise offers a lot of benefits for kids. It increases the blood flow to all body tissues and promoted adequate nutrition. It will also help to grow stronger muscles and bones, promote their flexibility and help the children have better control of their body fat. Regular exercise builds a stronger immune system, reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and dramatically improves child’s self-image and overall mental health.

Basic exercise for children

Parents can encourage the child to find the activities they enjoy by incorporating regular physical activity into family life. Most children will enjoy spending some quality time with the rest of the family while running around the park, playing in the backyard or taking long walks. Children may also benefit from team sports such as basketball, football or some other physical activities such as ballet or martial arts.

The best way to incorporate some basic physical activity for children is to give them the opportunity to enjoy being physically active. For example, parents can build a tree house and encourage their kids to climb up a three. Kids also love fun activities such as skating, rollerblading or skateboarding. Children who own pets tend to be more physically active. Therefore, it is a good idea to obtain a dog as a family pet and encourage children to take it for a walk.

Parents can also encourage their children to basic exercise by playing Frisbee or flying a kite. A beach holiday is also a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy swimming, running and exercising.
