Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine originating from India. Ayurveda deals with vast number of diseases and disorders with holistic approach. According to Ayurveda, there are three main body types known as dosha. The three doshas are vata, pitta and kapha. Each person has one dosha predominant but any imbalance between the three dosha leads to onset of a variety of ailments.
Pitta imbalance in the body can result in hair loss. Before starting to treat hair loss, Ayurveda considers many factors. Apart from using Ayurvedic medicine, a person suffering from hair loss will also have to make dietary changes. The diet should mainly consist of foods that reduce pitta. Ayurvedic medicine can cure hair loss and Ayurvedic treatment for this condition is explained below.
Ayurvedic Treatment for Hair Loss
Ayurvedic treatment for hair loss is a combination of diet, herbal remedies and oil massage. The treatment aims to counterbalance excess of pitta dosha thus prevent further hair loss.
Massage
Ayurvedic treatment for hair loss involves massaging the scalp with oils. There are several oils that can help to reverse hair loss. One of them is coconut oil, which is used for gentle scalp massage everyday for 15 to 20 minutes. Coconut oil promotes blood circulation and stimulates re-growth of hair. Almond oil is considered as one of the best hair loss remedies. Almond oil can be rubbed on the scalp everyday, before going to bed. Rosemary oil can be also used in treatment of hair loss.
Herbs
Ayurvedic medicine recommends neem leaves for hair loss prevention. Neem leaves should be boiled in water in the evening and strained next morning. This remedy is used as a hair rinse to induce hair growth. You can also take apple cider vinegar and sage tea to rinse your hair.
An excellent herbal remedy for hair loss is coconut milk. It should be applied on the scalp and rinsed with warm water after an hour or two. A solution prepared from Bhringraj, black sesame seeds and gooseberry is another great hair loss remedy. The solution should be applied to the scalp on a daily basis in order to promote hair growth.
Diet
Diet is also important in hair loss treatment. The diet should mainly include green leafy vegetables, salads, fruits and sprouts. Wheat germ, soy beans and whole grains are good for hair loss prevention.
Yogurt and buttermilk should be also included in the diet. Additionally, white sesame seeds are very beneficial as they are rich in calcium and magnesium that are essential for hair growth.
