Most people that are overweight think about losing it. Every day the thoughts of losing weight go through their minds but most just can’t seem to follow a program. Now the Atkins diet is here and has brought amazing results with it. The inventor, Dr. Atkins has advised the followers of the Atkins diet eat the following list of food.

Meats for the Atkins Diet

All fish are acceptable in the Atkins diet, the choice ranges from trout, snapper, sole, salmon, tuna, sardines, catfish, herring and flounder and the list is bigger than that. There are rules to follow with fish like it must be unprocessed and the cold water fish are favoured above the other types of sea and tepid water fish. Also in pregnancy you must be cautious when eating fish. Another meat you can consume on this diet is fowl such as chicken, duck, goose, pheasant, Cornish hen, quail, ostrich, emu and turkey. Again there are rules like the meat must be unprocessed and the dark meats cannot be consumed. The list of shellfish you can eat is clams, mussels, oysters, shrimps, crabmeat, and squids but you must avoid the imitation shellfish. Because mussels and oysters have an elevated carbohydrate amount you must limit your intake to three to four ounces a day. Actual meat you can have consists of ham, pork, bacon, beef, lamb, veal, venison and mutton. As above, there are easy rules such as no processed meat and avoid cured sugared meat. As well as that, avoid breaded meats and you need to make boundaries for organic meat.

Dairies for the Atkins Diet

You are allowed to eat eggs from chickens, ducks, quail and geese and they can be cooked however you like. Because of their nutritional content they are the main breakfast in this diet. You can have cheeses but you need to be careful for example if you want blue cheese you can only have 1 ounce daily as with most cheese like cow, sheep and goat cheese, Mozzarella, cream cheese, Feta, and Swiss cheese. If you would like cheddar you can have half a cup of shredded cheese a day. As well as cheese and eggs you can also have mayonnaise, sour cream and butter but not yogurt.

Fats and Oils in the Atkins diet

You can have olive oil, nut oils, vegetable oils and seed oils as well as canola, walnut, soybean, grape seed, sesame, sunflower and safflower oils but none of them can get to a high temperature.
