In the area of bodybuilding supplements, there is no guarantee in safety and purity of products. Because of a great number of these products, you can be easily confused and pick a wrong one. When we say wrong one, we mean the one that can endanger your health. This happens because supplements are not required to meet the same standards as regular prescription drugs.

There are some misconceptions about protein supplement drinks. For example, a lot of people think that consuming protein drinks can boost your stamina and strength. This is not true. In fact, these supplements are exactly the same as protein rich foods… just in the liquid state. Protein drinks are almost the same thing as putting some protein rich foods in the blender and drinking it afterwards. The only difference is that protein drinks usually taste better.

Choosing a Right Shake

What drink will you use depends on what you need it for. For instance, if you are about to exercise, you need a shake which contains proteins and slow releasing carbs. This way you will have enough energy to exercise at your maximum. Then again, if you want to have a shake after exercising, you need a drink which contains fast releasing carbohydrates and proteins. This compound will help your body to repair muscles as quickly as possible.

If you eat to make sure what ingredients are in your protein shake, you can make it on your own. You can make your own shake, which can contain calcium, carbohydrates, proteins, riboflavin, etc., depending on what your body needs.

Energy Drinks

Purpose of these drinks is to provide energy. They usually contain: B vitamin, caffeine and some herbal compounds. Other compounds are: guarana plant extracts, inositol, ginseng, maltodextrin, ginkgo, creatine, carnitine, taurine, etc. They almost always contain high levels of sugar or artificial sweeteners. The most common ingredient of energy drinks is caffeine.

Combining energy drinks with alcohol can be extremely dangerous. This is because alcohol is depressant and energy drinks are stimulants. Stimulant can disguise how intoxicated you are, and this can prevent you from realizing how drunk you actually are.

The verdict on energy drinks

These drinks should be kept far away from children under the age of ten. Furthermore, pregnant women should avoid these drinks, and young people must keep an eye on the amount of energy drinks they consume as well as the influence of these drinks on their behavior and mood.
