Dry skin is a very common skin problem, which some refer to as a skin type. There are many different skin care products like lotions and creams that are especially designed for dry skin, but there are also natural options that mostly use the ingredients found in every household.

Honey is one of the bets home remedies for dry skin. It has antibacterial properties; it soothes and nourishes the skin, removes dead skin cells and promotes new growth.
Yogurt can be used as a natural cleanser, and oatmeal makes an excellent facial mask.
Olive oil, especially if it is cold-pressed or extra virgin, works as an emollient, meaning it leaves the skin smooth and soft. It is particularly helpful against eczema, and it also does wonders for dry and flaky scalp.
Herbal teas can be used as facial wash for dry skin, particularly those made of chamomile, dandelion, peppermint, calendula, borage and Marshmallow.
Almond paste and oatmeal can be mixed together, placed in a cloth tea bag and used instead of soap, because it is known that soaps and washing gels dry and irritate the skin.
Glycerin and rose oil can be mixed together in equal amounts to make a great moisturizing lotion that is applied daily.
One of the simplest tricks for dry skin is to mash a ripe banana and apply it to the face and neck. It should stay on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Avocados can be used instead of bananas too, and they provide a nice glow to the skin.

Lifestyle and habits
It is known that bad habits like smoking and alcohol consumption deplete the moisture from the skin and cause dry and flaky appearance. These habits should therefore be avoided.
It is also important to know that bathing or showering in hot water aggravates the problem with dry skin. The water should be warm or lukewarm, so it does not destroy the skin’s protective oils. Bathing should not last more than 15 minutes, and showering no more than 5 minutes.
Dietary habits are very important in overcoming the problem with dry skin. The diet should contain vitamins, especially vitamins A and E and the vitamins of the B group. Fresh fruit, vegetable salads, seeds and nuts and freshly squeezed juices should be a large part of the daily diet. It is also very important to moisturize from the inside by drinking ample amounts of plain water.
