Prevention

In order to prevent gases and bloating eat and chew slowly. You should also drink in small sips and without a straw. If you have dentures, make sure they fit properly because otherwise you may swallow too much air. It is recommended to take a short walk after a meal to promote digestion. You should never lie down after eating because the gas from your stomach will pass easier into your intestines. Try to avoid stressful situations as much as possible. You may practice some relaxation techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.

Diet

If you want to make sure you will not suffer from gases, flatulence and bloating, avoid food and drinks which can cause them. Another thing you should do is to eat smaller amounts of food more frequently. You should also avoid greasy food because it slows down your digestion. Food rich in fiber is very healthy but it can cause gases as well. You should not avoid such food, but only cut back the consumption of fibers from time to time in order to rest your stomach. Drink plenty of water and natural fruit juices. You should eat soy products because they are easy to digest.
