Info about Excess Sweating

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is the medical term describing excessive sweating. There are people all around the world suffering from this problem, and estimation is that it affects about 1% of worldwide population.

Sweating is a normal process, helping your body to cool down after some activity, and you can usually notice the sweat under someone’s armpits or on the hands and feet. However, people suffering from hyperhidrosis are found to sweat extremely, and this condition becomes stressful and very unpleasant when interacting with other people. Exact and precise causes of hyperhidrosis are not known, and doctors can only conclude that sweat glands of these patients produce much more sweat than it is normal.

Excessive Sweat Treatments

People suffering from hyperhidrosis usually try many things to get rid of the sweat, including the temporary solutions like different specially formulated powders that should be used on affected areas of the body. However, these are temporary fixes.

A bit longer term treatment is to give up your coffee. Caffeine, present in your coffee is known to cause even more sweat and because of that many people are advised to avoid caffeine in any form and shape, including coffee and even chocolate, when you have hyperhidrosis.

Long term solutions can be very costly. Using Botox injections is sometimes recommended by medical professional for the treatment of excessive sweating, although this is not a solution for the problem. Giving Botox injections to the parts of the body mostly affected by sweat will affect only these parts, and the problem with sweating will simply transfer to another body part. More than that, you will need to take these injections every couple of months, just to move the problem to some other part of your body. Most hyperhidrosis patients think it is not worth the money.

Iontophoresis is also an expensive method to get rid of the excess sweat on your body, especially if your palms are extremely sweaty. This is also only a temporary fix, as all other mentioned above.

The simplest solution is a mixture of corn starch and baking soda. This natural treatment consists of dissolution of the mixture in some of the water. After that, all you need to do is use that water and place your hands in it. The sweat from your hands should evaporate once being mixed with this solution.

Other natural treatments can also be found on the Internet, and there might be a thing or two you can try to get some relief from excessive sweating.
