Tonsillitis
The tonsils are the two masses of lymphatic tissue located deep in both sides of your throat. When healthy, tonsils are small, approximately same size and pink, and the same colour as the surrounding area of the throat. In cases when bacteria or viruses infect the tonsils, they become very swollen and red, and this condition is called tonsillitis. A recurring or persistent infection of the tonsils is called chronic tonsillitis.
Diet
In order to boost your immune system and prevent possible tonsillitis you should relax on daily basis, exercise regularly, incorporate healthy eating plan, stop smoking, manage your stress wash hands appropriately.
Also a good diet is very important. You should avoid foods that weaken your immune system, like alcohol, dairy and high fat products, refined and processed foods and high sugar products. Instead, you should use the supplements that can boost your immune system, like zinc, selenium and vitamins C and E.

Aromatherapy can also be very useful in relieving the symptoms of tonsillitis. You can use geranium, lemon, tea tree and pine for infections, lavender and sandalwood to soothe problems, and peppermint, eucalyptus and cedar wood in order to relax the throat congestion. You can also make a mixture of these oils and massage it onto your chest and throat.

Apis mellifica is recommended for burning stinging pains in swollen tonsils which gets better from cold and worse from heat. Hepar sulphur is often used when throat is extremely sensitive to touch, and pain may radiate from inflamed tonsils to both ears. Belladonna is good in cases of acute inflammation
Lachesis is recommended homeopathic remedy in cases of swollen tonsils, throat very sensitive to touch and painful swallowing.
