What is poor circulation?

The circulatory system has a very important job — making sure all cells in your body get blood, oxygen, and nutrients, and poor circulation means you have problems with the circulatory system in the body. The classic symptoms that point to circulatory problems include a tingling sensation (pins and needles), especially in the extremities, numbness in your hands or feet, muscle cramps, and even pain.

There are various circulatory disorders, and they usually happen when blood flow to the outer limbs — usually the toes and fingers, but also the hands and feet, or even the legs and arms — is limited. Poor circulation can affect other organs in your body like heart or brain.

Various serious medical conditions can at least partially arise as a consequence of poor circulation like stroke, varicose veins, hypertension, heart and kidney diseases, aneurysm, phlebitis, or high blood pressure. Causes of poor circulation may be smoking, genetics, the presence of toxins in the body, a bad diet, lack of exercise, or lifestyle factors.

Treatments for poor circulation

There are several treatments for poor circulation like allopathic medications, natural, herbal, homeopathic, or alternative therapies, like aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, reflexology, acupuncture or massage.

Many consider homeopathy to be an excellent alternative to classic medications; it claims to treat the causes of illness in the body and not just symptoms. Homeopathy is safe to use and has no side effects when implemented as directed, and for instructions of what homeopathic remedy to choose and what dosage is right for you, consult your homeopathic doctor or homeopathic expert. Here are some of the homeopathic remedies recommended for use in cases of poor circulation.

Homeopathic remedies for poor circulation

Tabacum is homeopathic remedy recommended to be used when patients have legs that become icy cold from the knees down. Hands could also be cold to the touch, but the rest of the body is warm. Other symptoms may be a tingling sensation in the limbs or cramps in the limbs. People with this type of poor circulation will dislike extreme temperatures, whether too hot or too cold.

Secale is another homeopathic remedy recommended for use in cases of poor circulation where symptoms include the formation of blood clots, sluggish circulation due to distended veins, inflamed arteries, and a sensation of burning or numbness in the body. In extreme cases, gangrene of the toes may occur, as a result of poor blood flow.

Veratrum album is a homeopathic remedy indicated for use in cases when the patient who suffers from poor circulation feels cold all the time, and has icy cold hands. Other symptoms may include a burning sensation in the blood vessels, blueness in the feet, cold sweats, Raynaud’s phenomenon in the feet or legs, and numbness of the skin.

Arnica Montana is remedy also known as leopard’s bane, mountain tobacco or wolfsbane, and it is used in cases when symptoms of poor circulation may be varicose veins, which are often puffy and swollen, and sore to the touch. Arnica Montana is used to increase oxygen levels in the cells and heals the damaged tissues.

Other homeopathic remedies that you can use for poor circulation problems are Hamamelis, Lachesis, Arsenicum, Cayenne, Ginger, Prickly Ash or Cramp Bark.

It is advised to consult a doctor prior to using any medications — conventional or natural. No matter whether you choose modern medicine or homeopathy, it is always better to receive an accurate diagnosis than to experiment with remedies by yourself.
