Candidiasis is a fungal infection of any of the Candida species. Candida albicans is the most common cause of candidiasis. Under normal conditions, Candida albicans lives in 80% of the human population with no harmful effects. However, in certain conditions it may overgrow and result in cadidiasis. Candidiasis often outbreaks in patients with compromised immune system such as HIV positive patients. The infection can occur orally, vaginally, on the skin, in the urinary tract or in the stomach.
