Fasting is a practice that has been around for thousands of years. At first, it was done for ritualistic or religious purposes. The body needed to be cleansed of all impurities before a certain ritual and even today in certain branches of Christian religion people fast before great holidays, like Easter.

However, people today fast for different purposes too. Fasting is a way to clean the body from the inside and to improve the health by expelling the toxins which put strain on the heart and internal organs. Fasting is also done as a means of weight loss.

Until recently, fasting for health purposes was reserved for alternative medicine practitioners and new age enthusiasts. However, more and more medical and academic institutions recommend fasting as a way of prevention against certain disorders and diseases.

Neera super cleanse and Master cleanse

Neera cleanse and Master cleanse are two fasting programs that are based on the same principle.

Master cleanse is a very popular cleansing method, used by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. This program, designed by Stanley Burroughs, is also called the Lemonade diet. In this fast, a person is only allowed to drink a beverage made of lemon juice, pure water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. It is supposed to last 10 days, although some people stay on it for as much as 40 days. For beginners, it is recommended to try five or seven days first, and then increase the time in the next cycle of fasting.

The Neera super cleanse works similarly to Master cleanse. In this diet, all solid foods are replaced by a mixed beverage that includes Madal Bal syrup, lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper. Madal Bal syrup is a mixture of palm syrups, and some manufacturers add maple syrup too.

This beverage is supposed to be drank whenever a person feels hungry, which means six to ten glasses per day.

The special syrup in this beverage provides enough energy to perform everyday activities even without any solid foods. Lemon juice and cayenne pepper refresh and invigorate the body and stimulate the waste elimination process and the water is there to assure proper hydration and to flush out the toxins.

It is important to realize that during fasting many people have problems with constipation, which is why some manufacturers include bags of mild herbal laxatives in their fasting kits.
