Endometriosis

There are a lot of women who suffer from a certain condition known as endometriosis. There are many ways a woman can better her condition when she suffers from it and one of the best and easiest ways a woman can achieve that is by making certain changes in her diet. A majority of doctors will recommend women who suffer from endometriosis to go on a special diet that will improve their health condition. With the proper diet a woman will be able to reduce the symptoms caused by endometriosis. Just like certain foods should be consumed, there are some that need to be avoided. The first thing that a woman needs to do when she is making an endometriosis diet is to find out what foods increase prostaglandins. When she does that, she needs to exclude those foods from the diet. The main reason why that is so, is because prostaglandins is known to stimulate estrogen and that hormone is the main one that causes the most problem in a person who suffers from endometriosis. Some of the most common symptoms like painful menstrual cramps, vomiting, diarrhea and nausea occur due to estrogen. However, not all prostaglandins are bad and women need to realize that. For instance, E1 will relieve the symptoms.

Foods to avoid with endometriosis

Sugar is the first food that a person suffering from endometriosis needs to exclude from the diet. A person needs to limit the consumption of chocolate, sweets and drinks that contain a lot of sugar and honey. Phytic acid is known to make the symptoms of endometriosis worse and that is why people need to avoid eating wheat, because wheat contains a lot of that acid. Soy products should be avoided or limited because of the same reason as wheat. Apart from irritating the digestive system, phytic acid also reduces mineral absorption. The intake of caffeine needs to be limited as well because it raises estrogen levels. A person should not drink more than two cups of coffee in one day. Alcohol needs to be avoided due to the fact that it eats up vitamin B stored in the liver. A person suffering from endometriosis needs to avoid eating dairy products. The main reason why that is so, is because they stimulate the production of PGE2 and PGF2a, which are known to only make the symptoms worse. Red meat is another food that stimulates the production of PGF2a and that is why it needs to be avoided as well. Apart from all these foods, people suffering from endometriosis need to limit the consumption of refined carbohydrates, saturated fats and oils and additives.
