Clogged pores are a common affliction that can affect anyone. The face, due to constant atmospheric exposure, is vulnerable to problems of infection such as pimples, blackheads and whiteheads, all of which can lead to clogged pores. As a result, taking proper care of the face can be very important. Generally, the areas most affected by clogging are the nose and the chin. However, the forehead can also be very vulnerable to clogging.

Unclogging or taking care of clogged pores can be awkward, but here are some ways to help combat clogged pores.

Cleansing and Masks

Pores should be cleansed on a daily basis. The reason pores become clogged in the first place is most likely due to the fact that the face is not being adequately cleansed. To cleanse pores thoroughly, gently rub the face or clogged area with a mild soap for half a minute, before rinsing with warm water. Ensure the soap is entirely washed away and then splash the face with some cold water before patting dry with a towel.

Facial masks can help strip away the dirt contained in the pores, however, it is advised to have this process done by a professional as damage can be done should the mask be applied incorrectly.

Natural Remedies

Some natural remedies for clogged pores can be useful, such as Parsley, Thyme and Lemon Juice. When using parsley, pour 8 ounces of boiling water into a bowl of cleaned parsley. Then, after the mixture cools down, strain the liquid from the parsley leaves and soak a clean cloth in the resulting liquid. Hold the soaked cloth on the clogged area for about 15 minutes. This can be done up to once per day.

Another herb that can be of assistance is thyme. Take one and a half cups of boiling water and add four tablespoons of thyme. Rest for half an hour before filtering the mixture into a bottle. Refrigerate and wash the face each morning with this liquid.

The natural antiseptic properties of lemon juice can be a great help when looking to unclog pores. Simply dip a cotton ball into some lemon juice, squeeze out the excess and gently rub the face. Lemon juice can also help reduce spots and oil in the skin.

Staying hydrated can be beneficial for avoiding clogged pores, as can ensuring there are plenty of fruits and vegetables present in one’s diet. Avoid squeezing pores with dirty hands and never apply foundation over affected areas.Other Methods

Mix ¼ cup of warm water with baking soda until it is a paste. Spread over the face for 5 minutes before rinsing with apple cider vinegar and warm water. Pat dry and apply vitamin E oil to the face overnight.

Steaming the face can also be effective. While many steamers are available for purchase, it is possible to steam the face by holding one’s face over a bowl of hot water for about 15 minutes. Use a towel to cover the head.
