Breast augmentation can be performed with a range of methods that can provide with desired results. There are surgical and nonsurgical methods for breast enlargement. Surgical methods are more expensive and entail certain side effects but can provide immediate and permanent results. On the other hand, nonsurgical methods are safe and less costly but do not offer quick and long-term results.
Breast Augmentation Surgery
Breast augmentation surgery or augmentation mammoplasty is an area of plastic surgery which is becoming increasingly popular these days. Cosmetic breast surgery involves the use of different types of breast implants for the purpose of enlarging and reshaping the breasts. Breast implants can differ in implant shape, implant surface and implant size and volume. Implant position can be above or below pectoralis muscle.
Breast augmentation surgery includes different techniques distinguished by the incision site. Inframammary technique involves the incision made in the fold where the breasts meet the chest wall. This allows for the scar to be hidden. Axillary technique is performed by inserting the implant though the incision made in the armpit. This is done with an endoscope and the scar is practically invisible. Periareoral technique involves the incision made in the areola, where the nipple hides the scar. Umbilical technique is performed by making an incision in the navel and requires the use of an endoscope.
Nonsurgical Breast Augmentation Methods
Nonsurgical methods for breast augmentation include many different options such as herbal remedies, pills, creams, breast pumps and other devices. Advantage of these alternative methods for breast enlargement is in its affordable price and lower risk of adverse effects.
Breast enlargement pills, also called bust pills, are the most popular nonsurgical breast enlargement method. They contain phytoestrogens, which have estrogen-like effects on the body. Phytoestrogens work by promoting growth of the breast tissue. These pills usually provide first results after 6 to 8 weeks but women should take these pills for additional 90 days in order to get the desired breast size.
Breast-enhancing creams are another option for breast enlargement. Breast creams generally contain the same ingredients as breast enlargement pills but not in the same concentration. Breast enhancement creams help to naturally increase breast size and at the same time firm and tighten the breast tissue.
There is also the BRAVA system as a new option for breast augmentation. The BRAVA is a breast enhancement and shaping system. It is a bra with two plastic domes that are attached to a suction device. BRAVA system works by applying tension to the breast tissue causing it to grow. The BRAVA system has to be worn for 10 hours per day for 10 weeks. Increase in breast volume occurs after several months.
