Acne scar removal introduction

When people experience extreme problems with acne the pimples will usually leave scars in the skin once they have healed, especially if the person was plagued with very deep infections of the skin during the period of time that they had the severe acne problems.

There are ways to get rid of these scars however. Chemical peels can work, as can microdermabrasion. The last resort is usually surgery.

Surgery is one of the most effective ways to remove acne scars and is of course, the last resort for people with this problem.

It is however the process that works best, especially if the scars are very deep.

The dermatologist will remove, fill and raise the skin and take away the scar tissue from the skin that lies beneath it.

There are various forms of acne removal surgeries as well.

Punching techniques

One punching technique is called punch excision, in which a surgical instrument is used to remove the whole scar. Local anesthesia is applied to the area and the surgical tool removes the scar and the edges around it. Once the scar is removed, the skin is sutured back together and allowed to heal.

The scarring that results from the surgery is not very deep and will fade in time.

Punch elevation is used when the scars are deeper, though the tool that is being used is the same one. Instead of just suturing the skin at the end, in this procedure there will be elevation and attachment procedures as well.

The doctor removes the scar tissue and raises the tissue that is left over so that the tissue is at the same level as the rest of the skin when it heals.

Punch grating also uses the same tool, and it is very similar to the excision technique. The difference is that when the scar is removed, the wound is not sutured, rather, the skin area that was removed is filled in with a skin graft from the patients own skin.

Laser

Laser techniques can also be used, which can also be used to prevent acne in some cases. The lasers will burn away the scar tissue and allow healthy skin to grow back.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a process in which the doctor scrapes away the outermost layer of the skin with a rough wire brush.

It is important to know that no matter what the surgical procedure is for removing acne scars, it will be expensive and can cost in between $ 3000 and $ 9000, depending on the procedure and the clinic in which it is performed.
