Causes and Symptoms of Weakened Immune System during Pregnancy
Sudden hormonal changes can be blamed for weakening of the immune system in some pregnant women. Once the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus further growth and development of the fetus require certain hormones. One of them is produced by the placenta and is known under the name of human Chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This particular hormone is responsible for a variety of changes in the body such as missed periods, mood changes, morning sickness, fatigue etc. In some cases the body simply reacts in a form of weakening of the immune system. Apart from hormonal changes even nutrition during pregnancy may be a cause of weakening of the immune system. In case a woman does not take all the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals in optimal amounts she is highly likely to become susceptible to many illnesses and infections.
So apart from regular symptoms and signs of pregnancy women with weakened immune system become prone to different infections and may develop some even more serious illnesses. The symptoms and signs of such conditions generally depend on the very disease.
