Lactose intolerance

If a person who is lactose intolerant consumes some product with it, he or she will most likely suffer from stomach cramps but may also experience flatulence, bloating, nausea and diarrhea.

Irritable bowel syndrome

A person may suffer from irritable bowel syndrome if there is not enough coordination between the muscles of the bowels and the nervous system. Most common symptoms of IBS are severe stomach cramps, constipation, nausea and bloating.

Gastritis

Gastritis usually occurs when there is swelling in the inner parts of the stomach. At first, a person will experience pain above the navel and then the pain will move down and cause severe abdominal cramps. In the end, gastritis may lead to stomach ulcer. Nausea, diarrhea, bad breath and belching are other symptoms that point to gastritis.

Apart from these, a person may experience severe stomach cramps because of colon cancer, celiac disease, diverticulosis and even after eating or while running.

How to prevent severe stomach cramps?

It is best if a person takes certain preventive measures in the early stages of cramping. Drinking a lot of fluids and consuming more fibrous foods is always good. When suffering from cramps a person should make sure that he or she avoids stress and anxiety. A healthy diet and regular exercises also contribute to the treatment and prevention of stomach cramps.
