Definition

The body's immune system can get charged up with a pretty common chronic inflammatory disease, called lupus. Lupus invades the internal organs and tissues. The lupus inflammation may influence different body systems such as heart, lungs, kidneys, skin, blood cells, joints etc. Lupus affect women more then men.

There are 4 types of lupus; discoid lupus Erythematosus, systemic lupus Erythematosus, neonatal lupus, drug-induced lupus Erythematosus and systemic lupus Erythematosus occurs most often.

Lupus patients can have normal life with proper treatment.

Complications of Lupus

A lot of areas on the body can be affect by lupus. Here is the following classification according to the affected organs, state or system in the body;

InfectionLupus patients are susceptible to infection due to diseases and its treatments (with corticosteroid and cytotoxic) because lupus influence the immune system. And minor infection may increase more serious infection. The most common infections are those on urinary tract, respiratory infections, salmonella, yeast infections or herpes. And of course minor infections bring on more-severe infections, like pneumonia that can be fatal. LungsIt is possible to have chest cavity lining inflammation that breathing makes very difficult. A pulmonary tests may discover lung complications, severe but with no symptoms.Heart Lupus can affect heart muscle and induce inflammation: also arteries or a heart membrane.
