Morning sickness a recognizable symptom of pregnancy, appears at almost 70% of pregnant women. Some recent research shows that thin women are more prone to it.

On average, nausea during pregnancy begins after 5.5 weeks and usually lasts until 12. week. In a number of women it may take a little longer - until 16. week.

There are also a small number of pregnant women who are followed by this discomfort through the entire period of pregnancy.

Causes

Hormones also cause rapid consumption of sugar in the blood that causes the feeling of hunger and sickness.

Other reasons responsible for the occurrence of nausea could be irregular and unhealthy diet, too much gastric acid and less successful digestion because of relaxation of muscle tissue under the influence of the digestive tract caused by other important hormone during early pregnancy - progesterone.

Treatment

Every pregnant woman should take her time with getting out of bed. She should also avoid sudden movements. Nausea attack could be beaten by preparing near the bed something to chew: crackers, biscuits or raisins. If pregnant woman drinks alcohol or smoke pregnancy is the time to stop smoking not only because cigarettes harm the baby but also worsen nausea.

She should avoid strong and heavy spices, and frying food because the smell of frying fat and can worsen the nausea. Onion cutting and fish cleaning pregnant woman should leave to others. Future mom should particularly take care about healthy diet. She shouldn’t be hungry or overloaded with food. Completely empty or full stomach will only worsen the nausea. Pregnant woman should eat small meals more often rather before than feel hungry.

She should enter enough liquid, especially if the morning sickness is followed by vomiting. Although fluid can cause sense of flatulence, it is important that woman in this period avoid dehydration. Expectant mother should drink water, diluted fruit and vegetables juices or herbal teas between meals. Milk drinks and soups are also very useful. Smelling lemon, orange or grapefruit can help in easing nausea. Also, peppermint candy or mint tea can be very helpful.

In addition, future mom should take vitamins and minerals prescribed for pregnant women, especially if she vomits to make up for lost. Very often these vitamins contain iron, which is heavy for stomach so she shouldn’t drink it on an empty stomach.

Pregnant woman should avoid exhaustion and stress because it can trigger or exacerbate nausea. She shouldn’t bother herself with unimportant things. Expectant mother should talk to close people about her feelings, concerns, releasing grief out.
