Homeopathic remedy for sore throat

Sore throat is usually one of the unavoidable symptoms of cold, but it can also be the symptom of pharynx, throat inflammation, or swollen tonsils.

Causes for a sore throat can be various, starting from the most usual ones, such as viral or bacterial infection, to excessive smoking, shouting, or more serious conditions such as measles, tonsillitis, sinusitis and leukemia . Despite the fact that people usually tend to visit a doctor or treat sore throat by antibiotics and home remedies, homeopathy offers a number of remedies which are intended to either relieve the symptoms, or to speed up the process of healing. In the following text not all of them, but only some will be mentioned.

Aconite napellus is used with intense and sudden symptoms, such as dry stuffy nose, scratchy throat and cough. The symptoms usually occur after exposure to cold and wind.

Arsenicum album is another homeopathic remedy, which is suggested to people with frequent colds and chest problems, or even sore throat. Sneezing, white, thick mucus and fever are also possible symptoms, which often tend to worsen around midnight.

Belladonna is helpful with sudden colds and symptoms such as fever, flushed face, running nose and tickling in the throat, though red sore throat, irritating cough and throbbing pain in ears or even sensitivity to light are also possible.

Ferrum phosphoricum, if taken in an early stage of cold, often stops it from further developing. On the other side, it does not mean that it is not helpful later, when symptoms are fever, sneezing and short hard cough.

Kali bichromicum is one of the best solutions for later stages of cold, when a person may feel pain in nose and throat, or hoarse coughing followed by thick mucus in throat.

Nux vomica is a very efficient remedy with colds accompanied by symptoms such as nasal discharge resembling egg white, headache, sneezing and weakened sense of smell and taste.

Phosphorus is a homeopathic remedy to which people prone to colds going easily to chest, respond very well. Laryngitis, frequent nosebleeds or a blocked nostril are some of the possible symptoms.

Rhus toxicodendron is used with colds beginning with stiffness and body aches, and the following symptoms are usually nasal congestion and sore throat.

Whichever homeopathic remedy for sore throat may be taken, it is important to bear in mind that no matter how much the symptoms may not seem serious, the right choice and the dosage depend on individual symptoms.
